Continuous Damage Fiber Bundle Model for Strongly Disordered Materials
We present an extension of the continuous damage fiber bundle model to describe the gradual degradation of highly heterogeneous materials under an increasing external load.

Micro-mechanical finite element analysis of Z-pins under mixed-mode loading [PDF]
© 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. This paper presents a three-dimensional micro-mechanical finite element (FE) modelling strategy for predicting the mixed-mode response of single Z-pins inserted in a composite laminate.

Classification of Load Sequence Effects in Metallic Structures
AbstractDue to the summation rule for the relative consumed fatigue life the basic property of linear damage accumulation is the independence of the calculation results from the sequence of occurrence of the cycles. In the physical fatigue damage accumulation the sequence of the occurrence of individual cycles indeed plays an important role.

Hepatitis C virus cell-cell transmission and resistance to direct-acting antiviral agents [PDF]
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is transmitted between hepatocytes via classical cell entry but also uses direct cell-cell transfer to infect neighboring hepatocytes.

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.
