Sharing the load in NAD metabolism

Cell Host & Microbe, 2022
Recently in Cell Metabolism, Challapa et al. used isotope labeling to track NAD metabolism in host tissues and the gut microbiota. They describe a symbiotic relationship in which the gut microbiota uses host-derived nicotinamide to generate NAD and in return, produces nicotinic acid for host NAD biosynthesis.

A multivariant exponential shared-load model

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1993
A shared-load model of the exponential distribution is used to describe the characteristics of dependent redundancies. In the shared-load model, the redundant components equally share the workload. Upon failure of one or more components, the remaining components must carry an increased load.

Load sharing optimization of parallel compressors

2013 European Control Conference (ECC), 2013
This paper deals with the problem of optimizing the load distribution and the on/off switching sequences of parallel compressor units in natural gas pipeline compression stations. Natural gas pipelines are used to deliver gas from production sources to customers.

Sharing Transient Loads : Causes of Unequal Transient Load Sharing in Islanded Microgrid Operation

IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, 2014
When inverters in voltage control mode are paired with synchronous generators (SGs), they exhibit poor transient load sharing in islanded operation. It is well known that power electronics respond more quickly where the inverter initially picks up the majority of every load step, and the generator's output slowly increases until they reach their steady-

Load shared integrated networks

5th European Personal Mobile Communications Conference 2003, 2003
Fourth generation networks lead to multiple distributed wireless networks, including cellular networks of different generations, frequencies and cell sizes; wireless LAN and PAN networks, and potentially satellite and other networks. Existing studies on hierarchical networks, integrated networks, and dual mode studies show how higher efficiency can be ...

Optimal time-varying load sharing for divisible loads

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1998
A load sharing problem involving the optimal load allocation of divisible loads in a distributed computing system consisting of N processors interconnected through a bus-oriented network is investigated. For a divisible lend, the workload is infinitely divisible so that each fraction of the workload can be distributed and independently computed on each

Load Sharing in Distributed Systems

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1985
An important part of a distributed system design is the choice of a load sharing or global scheduling strategy. A comprehensive literature survey on this topic is presented. We propose a taxonomy of load sharing algorithms that draws a basic dichotomy between source-initiative and server-initiative approaches.

Load-sharing type magnetic head

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982
Disclosed herein is a load-sharing type magnetic head, comprising a plurality of mutually independent arrayed magnetic head cores and a plurality of drive lines formed of coils each wound successively on the magnetic head cores in such a manner that the sequence of winding directions of the plurality of coils on each magnetic head core is different ...
