Integrated Load Shedding Project

INTELEC '87 - The Ninth International Telecommunications Energy Conference, 1987
With the impending energy shortages and the steeply rising costs of constructing new power generation facilities, the electric utilities in the US have found it economically advantageous to encourage major consumers of electricity to curtail usage, mainly during the peak consumption hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the summer months.

An emergency load shedding algorithm

2015 5th International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies (DRPT), 2015
A new emergency load shedding algorithm is pro posed in this paper based on the state plane representation of generator speed and power angle. When the trajectory of the power system stays in concave regions, the system is stable. When the trajectory crosses though the convex regions, the system is detected as unstable state.

Designing the Load Shedding Scheme

2017
It is very important to have a clear idea about the power system we are concerning on to understand the necessity of a load shedding scheme. The parameters and their values that we use in the under frequency load shedding scheme influence in stabilizing the power system very much.

Comprehensive Load-Shedding System

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2010
The availability of reliable electrical power supply for petrochemical industries is extremely important not only to maintain continuous production but also from the point of view of overall plant safety. The costs, caused by production losses, due to a partial or a complete blackout easily run up to millions of dollars per blackout.

On underfrequency load shedding schemes

Proceedings of the Twenty-Second Annual North American Power Symposium, 2002
The author discusses some of the factors which must be considered for testing an underfrequency load shedding scheme. Fault simulation and system separation due to faults or out-of-step conditions must be represented. This is necessary for analysis of generator behavior within the system during the abnormal conditions.

QoS-Driven Load Shedding on Data Streams

2002
In this thesis, we are working on the optimized execution of very large number of continuous queries defined on data streams. Our scope includes both classical query optimization issues adapted to the stream data environment as well as analysis and resolution of overload situations by intelligently discarding data based on application-dependent quality

Industrial plant load shedding

2011
To assist in restoring the equilibrium, frequency relays are employed. These disconnect the less important loads in stages when the frequency drops to a level that indicates that a loss of generation or an overload has occurred. This type of scheme is very useful in industrial plants where in-house generation is synchronised to the public grid system ...
