A general formulation for the calculation of the load sharing and transmission error under load of spiral bevel and hypoid gears

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1995
Abstract This paper presents the basis of a Loaded Tooth Contact Analysis (LTCA) program predicting the motion error of spiral bevel gear sets under load, and explores some of the influences of the unloaded motion error curve shape and amplitude over the kinematical behaviour under load. The effects of tooth composite deflection caused by bending and

Effect of Teeth Friction on Transmission Errors and Tooth Load of Spur Gears

Volume 10: ASME 2015 Power Transmission and Gearing Conference; 23rd Reliability, Stress Analysis, and Failure Prevention Conference, 2015
Transmission error is typically understood to act as the primary source of gearbox noise and vibration. This paper investigates the effect of sliding friction on the transmission error and tooth load of spur gears. To do so, the kinematic relation for the sliding mechanism of spur gears and mesh stiffness was calculated.

A Comparison of Analytical Predictions With Experimental Measurements of Transmission Error of Misaligned Loaded Gears

6th International Power Transmission and Gearing Conference: Advancing Power Transmission Into the 21st Century, 1992
Abstract This paper deals with the experimental study of dynamic transmission error of a gear pair. Two aspects of the experiment are discussed : 1) design of the test facility and data acquisition system and 2) comparison of transmission error and load distribution with experimental data.

Numerical and Experimental Study of Loaded Transmission Error of Worm Gear With a Plastic Wheel

Volume 7: 10th International Power Transmission and Gearing Conference, 2007
Nowadays, the wheels of worm gears with a low module can be made of plastic, thus classical modeling can no longer be used satisfactorily. The present paper describes an original method for studying the quasi-static loaded behavior of a worm gear, with a steel worm and a nylon wheel.

Effect of Tooth Contact and Gear Dimensions on Transmission Errors of Loaded Hypoid Gears

Journal of Mechanical Design, 1991
The effect of the tooth contact and alignment error of the hypoid gear assembly on transmission error was investigated with a new measuring apparatus which can measure the transmission errors of loaded hypoid gears assembled into a final drive unit. Measurements indicate that transmission error predictions made with the TCA and LTCA — analytical tools ...

Analysis of Transmission Errors Under Load of Helical Gears With Modified Tooth Surfaces

Journal of Mechanical Design, 1997
This paper presents a model for the analysis of transmission errors of helical gears under load. The model accommodates the modification of tooth surfaces, gear misalignments and the deformation of tooth surfaces caused by contact load. In this model, the gear contact load is assumed to be nonlinearly distributed along the direction of the relative ...
