TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Creating with (Un)Limited Possibilities: Normative Interfaces and Discourses in Super Mario Maker

open access: yes, 2017
This paper explores how the creative expression of players is framed within Super Mario Maker (Nintendo, 2015). Dispelling the promises of “endless possibilities” (Nintendo, 2015) with which the game is marketed, this article argues instead that a player’

Physiological responses of Microcystis aeruginosa NIES-843 (cyanobacterium) under the stress of chitosan modified kaolinite (CMK) loading

open access: yes, 2012
Flocculation with clays is a promising and environmentally friendly way to remove algal blooms. Physiological responses of Microcystis aeruginosa NIES-843 under the stress of chitosan modified kaolinite (CMK) loading were first reported in this paper ...

Influence of long-term compressive stresses on strength of concrete and steel-fiber concrete prismatic element

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The strength and deformation characteristics of concrete and steel-fiber concrete on prisms and cubes are determined. Short-term and long-term tests of the samples were carried out taking into account the recommendations of the regulatory documents for ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Permittivity variations on marble beams subjected to various loading levels

open access: yes, 2009
Summarization: Marble beams were subjected to gradually increasing three-point bending from low loading levels up to levels that significant damage was observed. After each loading step the permittivity was measured at three characteristic locations: the

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
