Lobachevsky Geometry and Stellar Parallaxes

Siberian Mathematical Journal, 2022
One aim of this paper is to provide proofs for the formulas and inequalities proposed without the proof by Lobachevsky in his first published paper on the subject of non-Euclidean geometry of 1829. These are obtained by computations in the Beltrami-Poincaré model.

Lorentzian Geometry on the Lobachevsky Plane

Mathematical Notes, 2023
The paper provides descriptions of length maximizing curves, distances, and spheres for left-invariant Lorentzian structures on connected simply connected non-abelian Lie groups of dimension \(2\). Using the Pontryagin maximum principle, the author gives these descriptions in terms of elementary functions.

Plagiarism, salami slicing, and Lobachevsky

Skeletal Radiology, 2008
Plagiarism is defined as “using someone else’s words, ideas or results without attribution” [7]. Plagiarism can occur in two forms: (a) self-plagiarism, when authors reuse portions of their own previous writings in a subsequent paper [8], i.e., redundant and duplicate publications; and (b) “salami slicing”—i.e., dividing reports of the outcome of a ...

Poisson Kernel on the Quantum Lobachevsky Spaces

Acta Applicandae Mathematica, 2004
The Poisson transform on the quantum Lobachevsky spaces is defined and the properties of the transform are discussed. The idea of the note is to define an analog of the Poisson transform on the quantum Lobachevsky space based on the classical Lobachevsky space \(L^3\) equipped with the hyperbolic metric.
