SKYQUANT 3D: Quantifying Vascular Anatomy With an Open‐Source Workflow for Comprehensive Analysis of Volumetric Optoacoustic Angiography Data

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 17, Issue 11, November 2024.
SKYQUANT 3D is a workflow with a set of Python instructions for Avizo, designed to optimize the quantification of optoacoustic angiograms. Our workflow automates batch processing, significantly accelerating volumetric data handling compared to traditional manual methods, thus facilitating analysis of vascular systems in preclinical and clinical ...

Primordial magnetic fields constrained by CMB anisotropies and dynamo cosmology

open access: yes, 2009
Magneto-curvature stresses could deform magnetic field lines and this would give rise to back reaction and restoring magnetic stresses [Tsagas, PRL (2001)].

The diamond–silicon carbide composite Skeleton® as a promising material for substrates of intense X‐ray beam optics

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 31, Issue 5, Page 1179-1188, September 2024.
A new material for substrates of optical elements used under ultra‐powerful X‐ray beams is described – the diamond‐silicon carbide composite Skeleton®. The composition and structure of the material, its surface roughness with a technological coating of polycrystalline silicon and its thermophysical characteristics are studied. The paper considers the ...

The geometry of sound rays in a wind

open access: yes, 2011
We survey the close relationship between sound and light rays and geometry. In the case where the medium is at rest, the geometry is the classical geometry of Riemann.

Bayesian and deep‐learning models applied to the early detection of ovarian cancer using multiple longitudinal biomarkers

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 13, Issue 7, April 2024.
Using the data from largest prospective ovarian cancer clinical trial, we assessed, for the first time, the performance of deep and statistical learning approaches in evaluating of the panel longitudinal biomarkers. Our results demonstrate that these models outperform CA125, the single best ovarian cancer biomarker.

On fundamental domains and volumes of hyperbolic Coxeter-Weyl groups

open access: yes, 2011
We present a simple method for determining the shape of fundamental domains of generalized modular groups related to Weyl groups of hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebras.

Frame-independence of the Inhomogeneous Mixmaster Chaos via Misner-Chitre'-like variables

open access: yes, 2004
We outline the covariant nature, with respect to the choice of a reference frame, of the chaos characterizing the generic cosmological solution near the initial singularity, i.e. the so-called inhomogeneous Mixmaster model.

Lobachevsky crystallography made real through carbon pseudospheres

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2016
We realize Lobachevsky geometry in a simulation lab, by producing a carbon-based energetically stable molecular structure, arranged in the shape of a Beltrami pseudosphere. We find that this structure: (i) corresponds to a non-Euclidean crystallographic group, namely a loxodromic subgroup of SL(2, Z); (ii) has an unavoidable singular boundary, that we ...
