Carbon Interlayer with Uniformly Anchored ZnO Nanoparticles: Surface‐Energy‐Driven Coble Creep for Practical Anode‐Free Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We used a zinc oxide–carbon composite interlayer (ZnO@C) via the electron‐beam (e‐beam) irradiation method to fabricate a cost‐effective, high‐energy‐density, anode‐free solid‐state battery. Chemical anchoring between the ZnO and carbon enabled uniform nanoscale morphology, mitigating the high surface energy of the ZnO NPs.

Breaking the Bottleneck in Limit of Detection of Surface Refractive Index Sensing by Harnessing Meta‐Waveguide Microring Resonators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mode splitting in meta‐waveguide microring resonators (MWMRs) effectively suppresses baseline drift and measurement noise while maintaining high refractive‐index sensitivity. This reflection‐induced mode splitting strategy enables quantitative detection of ultra‐weak surface perturbations and establishes MWMRs as a robust, drift‐immune platform for ...

Organoid Brain‐Machine‐Interface Devices for Central Nervous System Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We envision organoid brain‐machine‐interface (Organoid‐BMI) devices as new biohybrid bidirectional communication pathways to connect the human CNS and the external world for personalized CNS repair and regeneration. ABSTRACT Central nervous system (CNS) repair and regeneration suffer from tremendous clinical challenges due to current limitations in ...

Post-decentralization regional economies and actors -- putting the capacity of Local governments to the test [PDF]

open access: yes
Decentralization in Indonesia was introduced institutionally in 2001, with a democratization drive promoted by international donors and by the intention of the new government to clear away the centralistic image of Soeharto. Decentralization has had some

Eco‐Geography Reverses Dominant AMR Reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae: Integron‐Rich Mobilomes and Cross‐Niche Connectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dominant antimicrobial resistance reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae vary across eco‐geographic settings rather than following a universal pattern. Integrated One Health and global genomic analyses show that lineage structure, integron load, and cross‐niche connectivity shape whether AMR burden accumulates primarily in human or nonhuman compartments ...

Ukrainian decentralization under martial law: challenges for regional and local self-governance

open access: yesPost-Soviet Affairs
Ukraine’s decentralization reform is widely depicted as a success story among post-Euromaidan reforms and an important driver of Ukraine’s resilience to Russia’s invasion. Our analysis goes beyond current accounts by zooming in on how the decentralized local self-governance system in Ukraine has adapted to prolonged application of martial law.

Deciphering the Dynamic Balance Between Solvation Strength and Polysulfides Reaction Heterogeneity in Practical Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A weakly solvating fluorinated cosolvent (1200ET) enables precise solvation‐power regulation in Li–S batteries, decoupling interfacial stabilization from sulfur redox kinetics. This approach suppresses polysulfide dissolution while preserving reaction kinetics, leading to a stable Li metal interface and high‐energy multilayer pouch cells, revealing a ...
