Effective Compression of Center Symmetric Local Binary Pattern [PDF]

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2017
In this paper, we propose simple and effective compression of CSLBP (Center Symmetric Local Binary Pattern) descriptors, which is a textured based operator and mostly used as key point descriptor.

Critical adsorption at chemically structured substrates

open access: yes, 2005
We consider binary liquid mixtures near their critical consolute points and exposed to geometrically flat but chemically structured substrates. The chemical contrast between the various substrate structures amounts to opposite local preferences for the ...

Imaging time series for the classification of EMI discharge sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this work, we aim to classify a wider range of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) discharge sources collected from new power plant sites across multiple assets. This engenders a more complex and challenging classification task.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

One-shot Learning for iEEG Seizure Detection Using End-to-end Binary Operations: Local Binary Patterns with Hyperdimensional Computing

open access: yes, 2018
This paper presents an efficient binarized algorithm for both learning and classification of human epileptic seizures from intracranial electroencephalography (iEEG).

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Robust Active Contour Model Guided by Local Binary Pattern Stopping Function

open access: yesCybernetics and Information Technologies, 2017
Edge based active contour models are adequate to some extent in segmenting images with intensity inhomogeneity but often fail when applied to images with poorly defined or noisy boundaries.

Spatially enhanced local binary pattern

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2012
The local binary pattern (LBP) is one of the state-of-the-art texture descriptors for texture classification. However, the spatial distribution of the LBPs is not taken into account. Proposed is a novel texture descriptor, namely the spatially enhanced LBP, to encapsulate the spatial distribution of the LBPs with a shape context based method. Also, the

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Texture Feature Extraction by Using Local Binary Pattern [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Local Binary Pattern (LBP) is a method that used to describe texture characteristics of the surfaces. By applying LBP, texture pattern probability can be summarised into a histogram. LBP values need to be determined for all of the image pixels.
