An Extended Local Binary Pattern for Gender Classification

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia, 2013
This paper addresses the problem of gender recognition by proposing a new feature descriptor to be used in classification. The contribution of this work is an extension to the local binary patterns traditionally used as descriptors. Local binary patterns include information about the relationship between a central pixel value and those of its ...

Computing Local Binary Patterns on Discrete Manifolds

2014 22nd International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2014
In this paper, we present a novel and original framework for computing Local Binary Pattern (LBP)-like patterns on a triangular mesh manifold. This framework, that we called mesh-LBP, can be adapted to all the LBP variants employed in 2D image analysis. As such, it allows extending the related techniques to mesh surfaces.

Local Binary Patterns for Document Forgery Detection

2017 14th IAPR International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR), 2017
Document forgery is an increasing problem for both the public administration and private companies. It represents substantial losses in time and economical resources. Classical solutions to this problem such as watermarks or other integrated security patterns can not be applied in general for any unknown incoming document due to the large variability ...

Cancellability for local binary pattern biometric authentication

2015 Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA), 2015
Biometric cancellability enables protection and revocation of sensitive biometric data as used for authentication. This paper describes a cancellable biometric implementation by means of randomised Local Binary Pattern (LBP) feature vector, with user-specific secret-keys used to generate a biometric template.

Gradient Local Binary Patterns for human detection

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS2013), 2013
In recent years, local pattern based features have attracted increasing interest in object detection and recognition systems. Local Binary Pattern (LBP) feature is widely used in texture classification and face detection. But the original definition of LBP is not suitable for human detection. In this paper, we propose a novel feature set named gradient

Face Recognition with Local Line Binary Pattern

2009 Fifth International Conference on Image and Graphics, 2009
In this paper, we introduce a novel face representation method for face recognition, called Local Line Binary Pattern (LLBP), which is motivated from Local Binary Pattern (LBP) due to it summarizes the local spacial structure of an image by thresholding the local window with binary weight and introduce the decimal number as a texture presentation ...

A New Local Binary Pattern in Texture Classification

2014
The e LBPs extract local structure information by establishing a relationship between the central pixel and its adjacent pixels. However, it is very sensitive to the change of the central pixel .In this paper,we choose a circle with the radius of 1 instead of a single center.

Avoiding the Curse of Dimensionality in Local Binary Patterns

2016
Local Binary Patterns is a popular grayscale texture operator used in computer vision for classifying textures. The output of the operator is a bit string of a defined length, usually 8, 16 or 24 bits, describing local texture features. We focus on the problem of succinctly representing the patterns using alternative means and compressing them to ...

Face Recognition with Directional Local Binary Patterns

2011
A novel local feature descriptor, namely Directional Local Binary Patterns (DLBP), was proposed in this paper and applied for face recognition. The descriptor first extracts directional edge information, then codes these information using Local Binary Patterns (LBP).
