Local texton XOR patterns: A new feature descriptor for content-based image retrieval

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2016
In this paper, a novel feature descriptor, local texton XOR patterns (LTxXORP) is proposed for content-based image retrieval. The proposed method collects the texton XOR pattern which gives the structure of the query image or database image.

Texture feature extraction of coal-rock image based on variogram and local variance image

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2018
In view of problems of low classification accuracy and algorithmic running efficiency and poor robust property of rotation texture recognition existed in local binary patterns for texture feature extraction of coal-rock, a texture feature extraction ...

Local Binary Pattern Networks

open access: yesCoRR, 2018
Memory and computation efficient deep learning architec- tures are crucial to continued proliferation of machine learning capabili- ties to new platforms and systems. Binarization of operations in convo- lutional neural networks has shown promising results in reducing model size and computing efficiency.

Optimum Gabor filter design and local binary patterns for texture segmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a novel approach to multi-texture image segmentation based on the formation of an effective texture feature vector. Texture sub-features are derived from the output of an optimized Gabor filter.

An automated detection of glaucoma using histogram features

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ophthalmology, 2015
Glaucoma is a chronic and progressive optic neurodegenerative disease leading to vision deterioration and in most cases produce increased pressure within the eye. This is due to the backup of fluid in the eye; it causes damage to the optic nerve.

Sparse Multiscale Local Binary Patterns [PDF]

open access: yesProcedings of the British Machine Vision Conference 2006, 2006
In a Local Binary Pattern (LBP) representation, circular point features are taken in their entirety as predicates and restricted to unif orm patterns with limited scales of small numbers of features in order to avoid large bin complexity. Such a design cannot fully exploit the discriminat ive capacity of the features available.

Feature selection using genetic algorithm for classification of schizophrenia using fMRI data [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining, 2015
In this paper we propose a new method for classification of subjects into schizophrenia and control groups using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data.

Deep Local Binary Patterns

open access: yesCoRR, 2017
Local Binary Pattern (LBP) is a traditional descriptor for texture analysis that gained attention in the last decade. Being robust to several properties such as invariance to illumination translation and scaling, LBPs achieved state-of-the-art results in several applications.

Radiomics-Based Prediction of Overall Survival in Lung Cancer Using Different Volumes-Of-Interest

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Lung cancer accounts for the largest amount of deaths worldwide with respect to the other oncological pathologies. To guarantee the most effective cure to patients for such aggressive tumours, radiomics is increasing as a novel and promising research ...

A Completed Multiple Threshold Encoding Pattern for Texture Classification

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2023
The binary pattern family has drawn wide attention for texture representation due to its promising performance and simple operation. However, most binary pattern methods focus on local neighborhoods but ignore center pixels.
