Local Convergence Balls for Nonlinear Problems with Multiplicity and Their Extension to Eighth-Order Convergence

open access: yes, 2019
The main contribution of this study is to present a new optimal eighth-order scheme for locating zeros with multiplicity . An extensive convergence analysis is presented with the main theorem in order to demonstrate the optimal eighth-order convergence ...

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Multistep Iterative Methods for Solving Equations in Banach Space

open access: yesMathematics
The novelty of this article lies in the fact that we extend the use of a multistep method for developing a sequence whose limit solves a Banach space-valued equation. We suggest the error estimates, local convergence, and semi-local convergence, a radius

Radial coordinates for defect CFTs

open access: yes, 2018
We study the two-point function of local operators in the presence of a defect in a generic conformal field theory. We define two pairs of cross ratios, which are convenient in the analysis of the OPE in the bulk and defect channel respectively.

Encoding Magnetic Anisotropies in Digital Light Processing 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid magnetic device—combining a coaxial coil within a nested Halbach array—is presented, integrated into a DLP 3D printer to enable spatially resolved magnetic field control. This system enables complex, multimodal responses by programming liquid crystal elastomer resins for magnetic and thermal actuation, and by inducing electrically conductive ...

The imprint of $f(R)$ gravity on weak gravitational lensing I: Connection between observables and large scale structure

open access: yes, 2016
We study the effect of $f(R)$ gravity on the statistical properties of various large-scale structures which can be probed in weak gravitational lensing measurements.

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

Micro and Nanostructural Diversity of Lizard Osteoderm Capping Tissue in Relation to Mechanical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that lizard osteoderm capping tissue is a hyper‐mineralized hydroxyapatite layer consistently covering the superficial osteoderm surface in those species studied here, yet it varies greatly in morphology, nanostructure, and mechanical performance across species.

Extending the Applicability of a Two-Step Vectorial Method with Accelerators of Order Five for Solving Systems of Equations

open access: yesMathematics
The local convergence analysis of a two-step vectorial method of accelerators with order five has been shown previously. But the convergence order five is obtained using Taylor series and assumptions on the existence of at least the fifth derivative of ...

Proton radii of 4,6,8He isotopes from high-precision nucleon-nucleon interactions

open access: yes, 2005
Recently, precision laser spectroscopy on 6He atoms determined accurately the isotope shift between 4He and 6He and, consequently, the charge radius of 6He. A similar experiment for 8He is under way.
