Regulation and the Leverage of Local Market Power in the California Electricity Market [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Regulators of electricity markets around the world continue to struggle with the problem of incentivizing generators whose output, due to their location in the grid, has no viable substitutes. Such generators possess 'local' market power. Since these generators also compete in broader regional markets, the actions taken to exploit their local market ...

Integration of electric vehicles in local energy markets

open access: yes, 2021
Every year, the number of electric vehicles (EVs) on the roads has been increasing on a large scale. The electric grid, in this case, must evolve with the high penetration of distributed energy resources such as EVs and renewable energies. Indeed, demand response (DR) programs and the flexibility of EVs can help to mitigate the challenges of the ...

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Empirical analysis of the spot market implications of price-elastic demand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Regardless of the form of restructuring, deregulated electricity industries share one common feature: the absence of any significant, rapid demand-side response to the wholesale (or, spot market) price.

The impact of local electricity markets on the operation and development of the distribution networks

open access: yes2022 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe (ISGT-Europe), 2022
This paper discusses local electricity markets in relation to the operation of distribution networks. Distribution networks face several challenges, mainly related to the increasing number of generation sources and loads, such as heat pumps and electric vehicles that have been connected recently.

Wearable Smart Patches on Sustainable Chitosan With Reversible Microbial Growth‐Inhibitory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chitosan, a polysaccharide upcycled from biowaste, has long promised sustainable, biocompatible, and antimicrobial films and devices, an appeal reinforced by its recent regulatory recognition, with several chitosan‐based antibacterial dressings gaining clearance through the Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) pathway.

A Review of Peer-to-Peer Energy Trading with Standard Terminology Proposal and a Techno-Economic Characterisation Matrix

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Nowadays decarbonisation of the energy system is one of the main concerns for most governments. Renewable energy technologies, such as rooftop photovoltaic systems and home battery storage systems, are changing the energy system to be more decentralised.
