An experimental method is described for determining local cerebral blood flow within an area supplied by a major cerebral artery. With the use of anatomic-radiologic correlates, the territories of the anterior and middle cerebral arteries were defined in the rhesus monkey.

Procedings of the Alvey Vision Conference 1988, 1988
In order to understand the parallel computation of optic flow, we introduce here a novel algorithm for computing the flow field at certain locations in the image. These locations are on the gradient edges, which Brady calls seeds [1] . Our Curve Motion Constraint Equation provides an additional constraint to fully and locally estimate the flow field at

Locally Oriented Optical Flow Computation
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2012This paper proposes the use of an adaptive locally oriented coordinate frame when calculating an optical flow field. The coordinate frame is aligned with the least curvature direction in a local window about each pixel. This has advantages to both fitting the flow field to the image data and in imposing smoothness constraints between neighboring pixels.

Local Regulation of Blood Flow
1984H+ and K+ ions participate decisively in the local regulation of blood flow. Variation of their extracellular concentration changes the membrane potential of vascular smooth muscle cells and tension via electromechanical coupling. The effect of K+ ions can be primarily attributed to a change of K+ equilibrium potential and electrogenic pump rate, the ...

Shear Localization with an Arrhenius Flow Law
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2000Summary: A flow law with Arrhenius dependence on temperature is used to model shear localization and shear-band phenomena in thermoviscoplastic materials. Arrhenius dependence is suggested by microstructural arguments for some high-strength metals.

Twelfth IEEE International Workshop on Quality of Service, 2004. IWQOS 2004., 2004
This paper elaborates on a paradigm for quality-of-service (QoS) that is local, i.e., it does not depend on multinode cooperation. In order to maintain short queuing delays, we individuate flows that occupy a large fraction of a buffer and segregate those flows into a separate queue.

Instability and flow localization during compression of a flow softening material
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 1994Materials that flow soften exhibit plastic instability during compressive deformation when Considere's criterion is satisfied, i.e., when there is no increase in the force required to cause deformation. Further, theories developed by Hart and Jonas et al. show that the flow localization can occur during plastic instability.

AbstractChapter 7 analyzes the particular ways in which the John of God movement takes root in Australia and New Zealand in order to show how the process of glocalization takes place. It investigates how white Australians and New Zealanders deploy the beliefs they acquire at the Casa in relation to their own countries’ history.

Analysis of the local robustness of stability for flows
Mathematics of Control, Signals, and Systems, 1998The authors consider the perturbed nonlinear system \[ \dot x= f_0(x)+ \sum^m_1 u_if_i(x) \] with \(x_*\) as an equilibrium, i.e. \(f_j(x_*)= 0\), \(j= 0,1,\dots, m\), and also its linearization at \(x_*\): \[ \dot x= \Biggl(A_0+ \sum^m_1 u_iA_i\Biggr) x= A(u)x.
