Measurement of sexual health outcomes among people who inject drugs: pilot study in Catalonia, Spain and Barnaul, Russia

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2018
Background The main objective of this study was to test some of the draft sexual health indicators developed by the World Health Organization as part of a comprehensive indicator framework to monitor progress in universal access to reproductive health ...

The Nature of the Local Group [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 2004
AbstractThe Local Group provides an interesting and representative sample of galaxies in the rest of the Universe. The high accuracy with which many problems can be addressed in Local Group galaxies is of paramount importance for understanding galaxy formation and evolution.

ON THE LOCAL HYPERCENTER OF A GROUP [PDF]

open access: yesProyecciones (Antofagasta), 2007
We introduce a local hypercenter of an arbitrary group and study its basic properties. With this concept, it turns out that classical theorems of Baer, Mal’cev and McLain on locally nilpotent groups can be obtained as special cases of statements which are valid in any group.

Character groups of Metacyclic groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Pontryagin duality provides a powerful tool for analyzing the structure and properties of locally compact abelian groups, in particular finite abelian groups. Now much can be done with non-abelian groups via the construction of character groups. In this paper we provide a set of conditions a group must satisfy to be realized as a balanced character ...

Line-of-Sight Mass Estimator and the Masses of the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy

open access: yesUniverse
The total mass of a galaxy group, such as the Milky Way (MW) and the Andromeda Galaxy (M 31), is typically determined from the kinematics of satellites within their virial zones. Bahcall and Tremaine (1981) proposed the v2r estimator as an alternative to

Defining a mood stabiliser: novel framework for research and clinical practice

open access: yesBJPsych Open, 2018
The term ‘mood stabiliser’ is ill-defined and lacks clinical utility. We propose a framework to evaluate medications and effectively communicate their mood stabilising properties – their acute and prophylactic efficacy across the domains of mania and ...

Assessing the feasibility, acceptability, and fidelity of a tele-retinopathy-based intervention to encourage greater attendance to diabetic retinopathy screening in immigrants living with diabetes from China and African-Caribbean countries in Ottawa, Canada: a protocol

open access: yesPilot and Feasibility Studies, 2023
Background Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of preventable blindness in Canada. Clinical guidelines recommend annual diabetic retinopathy screening for people living with diabetes to reduce the risk and progression of vision loss.

Automorphisms of locally compact groups [PDF]

open access: yesPacific Journal of Mathematics, 1978
It is proved that for arbitrary locally compact groups G the automorphism group Aut (G) is a complete topological group. Several conditions equivalent to closedness of the group Int (G) of inner automorphisms are given, such as G admits no nontrivial central sequences. It is shown that Aut (G) is topologically embedded in the automorphism group Aut^(G)

On local sharply n-transitive groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The paper is devoted to generalizations of actions of topological groups on manifolds. Instead of a topological group, we consider a local topological group generalizing the notion of a~germ or a~neighborhood in a topological group. The notion of an action of a local group on a topological space is introduced. The paper constructs the theory of local

Neolithic Culture: the issues of interpretation

open access: yesАрхеология евразийских степей
In Soviet science, the prevailing viewpoint was that the Neolithic culture corresponded to a group of related tribes. A.A. Formozov and M.V. Voyevodsky also distinguished larger communities: cultural areas, zones, provinces.
