Several decades of observations of the most massive and most luminous stars have revealed a complex upper HR Diagram, shaped by mass loss, and inhabited by a variety of evolved stars exhibiting the consequences of their mass loss histories.

An observer's guide to the (Local Group) dwarf galaxies: predictions for their own dwarf satellite populations [PDF]
A recent surge in the discovery of new ultrafaint dwarf satellites of the Milky Way has inspired the idea of searching for faint satellites, $10^3\, \mathrm{M_{\odot}} 99\%$ chance that at least one satellite with stellar mass $M_*> 10^5\, \mathrm{M_ ...

Testing MOND with Local Group spiral galaxies [PDF]
The rotation curves and the relative mass distributions of the two nearby Local Group spiral galaxies, M31 and M33, show discrepancies with Modified Newtonian dynamic (MOND) predictions.

Supernova Remnants in the Local Group I: A model for the radio luminosity function and visibility times of supernova remnants [PDF]
Supernova remnants (SNRs) in Local Group galaxies offer unique insights into the origin of different types of supernovae. In order to take full advantage of these insights, one must understand the intrinsic and environmental diversity of SNRs in the ...

The oldest and most metal-poor stars in the APOSTLE Local Group simulations. [PDF]
We examine the spatial distribution of the oldest and most metal-poor stellar populations of Milky Way-sized galaxies using the A Project Of Simulating The Local Environment (APOSTLE) cosmological hydrodynamical simulations of the Local Group.

Chains of Group Localizations [PDF]
We construct long sequences of localization functors L_a in the category of abelian groups such that L_a > L_b for infinite cardinals a < b less than some k. For sufficiently large free abelian groups F and a < b we have proper inclusions of L_aF into L_bF.

Constrained Local UniversE Simulations: a Local Group factory [PDF]
Near field cosmology is practiced by studying the Local Group (LG) and its neighbourhood. The present paper describes a framework for simulating the near field on the computer.

Automorphisms of locally compact groups [PDF]
It is proved that for arbitrary locally compact groups G the automorphism group Aut (G) is a complete topological group. Several conditions equivalent to closedness of the group Int (G) of inner automorphisms are given, such as G admits no nontrivial central sequences. It is shown that Aut (G) is topologically embedded in the automorphism group Aut^(G)
