Bridging the gap: a genetically validated avian chorioallantoic membrane platform for investigation of spontaneous circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established the avian chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay as a scalable in vivo model for studying circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Human gastrointestinal tumors spontaneously released genetically validated CTCs that were detected across multiple platforms, demonstrating that the CAM model provides an accessible tool for investigating early cancer ...

"Con Maya uinice": The Maya and their Other : (re-)constructing Maya Ethnic Identity in Yucatec Maya (Con-)Texts

open access: yes, 2006
This book chapter is based on a paper presented at the European Maya Conference, Bonn University, 2004. It strives at reconstructing Yucatec Maya identity from the Books of Chilam Balam and certain texts are highlighted that uses terms connected to ...

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

Mutant p53R273H disrupts PDPK1 homodimerization and contributes to PDPK1 activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
How mutant p53R273H drives AKT signaling is unclear. We show that p53R273H, but not wild‐type, directly binds PDPK1 via a mutation‐dependent conformational change. This interaction disrupts inhibitory PDPK1 homodimerization and enhances AKT phosphorylation.

UNDERSTANDING LOCAL TERRITORIAL IDENTITIES: CONCEPTS, QUESTIONS, AND PITFALLS

open access: yes, 2017
In the everyday language, as well as in the political and institutional one, territorial identity is an expression largely used, thanks to its strong evocative and performative power.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
