High-Speed Railway Fastener Detection Based on a Line Local Binary Pattern [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2018
Traditional image features are not able to effectively represent railway fasteners under varied illumination and conditions. We propose the line local binary pattern encoding method that considers the relationship between the center point and its upper and lower neighborhoods. The method can effectively represent the key components of fasteners.

Automatic Extraction of Discontinuity Traces from 3D Rock Mass Point Clouds Considering the Influence of Light Shadows and Color Change

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The spatial characteristics of discontinuity traces play an important role in evaluations of the quality of rock masses. Most researchers have extracted discontinuity traces through the gray attributes of two-dimensional (2D) photo images or the ...

Bilateral Line Local Binary Patterns for Face Recognition

open access: yes, 2020
Local binary pattern is one of the visual descriptors and can be used as a powerful feature extractor for texture classification. In this paper, a novel representation for face recognition is proposed, called it Bilateral Line Local Binary Patterns (BL-LBP).

Discriminative Binary Descriptor for Finger Vein Recognition

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, we propose a new local discriminative feature learning method for finger vein recognition. Unlike most previous finger vein recognition methods, which use hand-crafted descriptors such as local binary pattern, local line binary pattern ...

Application of local binary patterns to surface defect recognition of continuous casting slabs

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2016
To solve the detection problems of slab surface defects by conventional image recognition algorithms, this article introduces an improved multi-block local binary pattern algorithm which considers the image's pixels. In this algorithm, the original image
