Scaling of the local dynamics and the intermolecular potential [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2006
The experimental fact that relaxation times, tau, of supercooled liquids and polymers are uniquely defined by the quantity TV^g, where T is temperature, V specific volume, and g a material constant, leads to a number of interpretations and predictions concerning the dynamics of vitrification.

Wall following to escape local minima for swarms of agents using internal states and emergent behaviour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Natural examples of emergent behaviour, in groups due to interactions among the group's individuals, are numerous. Our aim, in this paper, is to use complex emergent behaviour among agents that interact via pair-wise attractive and repulsive potentials ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Plant diversity in Montel Muria Kudus Waterfall area for college student e-module development

open access: yesJPBI (Jurnal Pendidikan Biologi Indonesia)
Many college students have difficulty in understanding the diversity and morphology of plants at the species level. The research aims to analyze the potential of species-level plant diversity in Montel Muria Kudus Waterfall, develop e-modules integrating

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
