The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

Evolution of CFD numerical methods and physical models towards a full discrete approach

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2022
The physical models and numerical methodologies of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are historically linked to the concept of continuous medium and to analysis where continuity, derivation and integration are defined as limits at a point.

Quantum teleportation with infinite reference-frame uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We present two new schemes for quantum teleportation between parties whose local reference frames are misaligned by the action of a compact Lie group G. These schemes require no prior alignment of reference frames and are unaffected by arbitrary changes ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

A Local Discrete Feature Histogram for Point Cloud Feature Representation

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Local feature descriptors are a critical problem in computer vision; the majority of current approaches find it difficult to achieve a balance between descriptiveness, robustness, compactness, and efficiency.

The Common Frame of Reference in Europe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Discusses the origins of the Draft Common Frame of Reference and assesses the need for further work in particular areas, taking as an example the subject of restitutionary damages for non-performance of a contract. Also assesses the possible relevance of

Translating whole‐genome doubling into precision medicine in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Whole‐genome doubling creates a WGD‐positive tumor state characterized by persistent chromosomal instability, karyotypic diversification, and cellular stress. These same biological pressures drive aggressive tumor evolution while exposing therapeutic vulnerabilities, providing a rationale for WGD‐informed precision medicine. Whole‐genome doubling (WGD)

A Generalization of Iterative Closest Point Registration Algorithms Using a Local Reference Frame-Based SE(3) Augmentation

open access: yesIEEE Access
Point cloud registration is a key computer vision task that must be solved in most modern pipelines for 3-D data processing. Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithms are one of the most important and widely used approaches for solving the point cloud ...

Arginine methylation as a regulatory ratchet in cancer: From substrate selection to malignant‐state stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Arginine methylation can be viewed as a persistence‐prone post‐translational modification regulated by a network of PRMTs. Competitive and compensatory interactions among PRMTs can redistribute methylation across substrate pools shaped by sequence, structural, spatial, and environmental layers, reinforcing RNA‐processing, chromatin, and signaling ...
