Locally Finite Ring Varieties [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1975
Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for a variety of associative rings to be locally finite. These conditions are utilized to show that a variety is generated by a finite ring if, and only if, it contains only finitely many subvarieties.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Electron transport in an open mesoscopic metallic ring

open access: yes, 2007
We study electron transport in a normal-metal ring modeled by the tight binding lattice Hamiltonian, coupled to two electron reservoirs. First, Buttiker's model of incorporating inelastic scattering, hence decoherence and dissipation, has been extended ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The equality I^2=QI in Buchsbaum rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Let A be a Noetherian local ring with the maximal ideal m and d=dimA. Let Q be a parameter ideal in A. Let I=Q:m. The problem of when the equality I^2=QI holds true is explored.

Gersten Conjecture For Equivariant K-theory And Applications

open access: yes, 2009
For a reductive group scheme over a regular semi-local ring, we prove an equivarinat version of the Gersten conjecture. We draw some interesting consequences for the representation rings of such reductive group schemes. We also prove the rigidity for the

On regular local rings [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1963
This paper generalizes slightly a result of Kunz [1 ] and Nakai [2]. If R> S are commutative rings with identity we introduce a module D*(R/S) defined as the quotient of the module D(R/S) of S differentials of R by the submodule consisting of elements which are mapped to zero by every homomorphism of D(R/S) having values in a finitely generated R ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The Gorenstein defect category [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We consider the homotopy category of complexes of projective modules over a Noetherian ring. Truncation at degree zero induces a fully faithful triangle functor from the totally acyclic complexes to the stable derived category.
