Hydrodynamic Countermeasures for Local Pier Scour

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 1999
The results of laboratory studies investigating the energy dissipation caused by the placement of roughness elements to impede the downward thrust of water near pier faces are summarized. The purpose of the investigation was to evaluate the effectiveness of the method as a viable countermeasure for local pier scour.
