Offshore pipelines are commonly used for the transportation of oil and gas from offshore to near-shore facilities in the oil and gas industry. In ocean environments, the wave- and current- induced pore-water pressure within the seabed, and the associated

Local Scour at Bridge Abutments
This paper presents the results of an experilnental investigation of local scour at bridge abutment models of three common shapes placed in laboratory flume with uniform sand with d)l) =0.775 mm. The 1l1uximum scour depths and extent of scour were determined corresponding to clear water conditions.

Abstract Domesticated European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) have long been chosen as laboratory model organisms. Despite this, there has been no definitive study of the vertebral musculature of wild rabbits. Relevant descriptions of well‐studied veterinary model mammals (such as dogs) are generally applicable, but not appropriate for a species ...

7000 Years of Aboriginal Mining at Sugarloaf Hill in the Riverland Region of South Australia
ABSTRACT Silcrete and chert are commonly represented in Aboriginal archaeological lithic assemblages across large parts of the southwestern Murray‐Darling Basin (MDB). In South Australia (SA), these materials were sourced from a series of quarries located along the incised course of the Murray River through the upper Riverland region.

Scanning Parametric Sediment Echosounder as Tool for Underwater Archaeological Prospection
ABSTRACT Underwater cultural heritage 3D prospection techniques, especially for remains that are partly buried in the ground, are only very rarely available and often can only be applied with considerable technical effort. To overcome this limitation, we evaluate a methodological adaption of widely used and available single channel parametric sediment ...

Investigation of local scour around hydraulic structures particularly bridges is of crucial importance in river engineering. Bridge destruction mostly occurs as a result of scour phenomenon around piers and abutments, not because of structural weaknesses.

Atypical Predictive Processing Is Associated With Sensory Over‐Responsivity in Autism
ABSTRACT Autism is characterized by sensory processing atypicalities including sensory over‐responsivity (SOR), a heightened negative response to sensory stimuli. Although the neural mechanisms underlying SOR are not fully understood, SOR has been associated with sensory‐limbic hyper‐reactivity during sensory stimulation.

The extension of the taxon cycle model to island plants: insights from the Canarian vascular flora
ABSTRACT Taxon cycle models describe eco‐evolutionary patterns of lineage colonization, diversification, and decline across archipelagos, inferring an important role for competition amongst ecologically similar taxa in driving concurrent niche changes.
