MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...

Optimizing One Million Variable NK Landscapes by Hybridizing Deterministic Recombination and Local Search [PDF]
In gray-box optimization, the search algorithms have access to the variable interaction graph (VIG) of the optimization problem. For Mk Landscapes (and NK Landscapes) we can use the VIG to identify an improving solution in the Hamming neighborhood in ...

Optimality of Geometric Local Search
Up until a decade ago, the algorithmic status of several basic çlass{NP}-complete problems in geometric combinatorial optimisation was unresolved. This included the existence of polynomial-time approximation schemes (PTASs) for hitting set, set cover, dominating set, independent set, and other problems for some basic geometric objects.

Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.

Optimal noise in a stochastic model for local search
We develop a prototypical stochastic model for local search around a given home. The stochastic dynamic model is motivated by experimental findings of the motion of a fruit fly around a given spot of food but shall generally describe local search behavior. The local search consists of a sequence of two epochs.

GLOBAL OPTIMIZATION METHODS [PDF]
Training a neural network is a difficult optimization problem because of numerous local minimums. Many global search algorithms have been used to train neural networks. However, local search algorithms are more efficient with computational resources, and

Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.
