Stereological and immunogold studies on TIE1 and TIE2 localization in glomeruli indicate angiopoietin signaling in podocytes

Micron, 2017
Angiopoietins and their TIE receptors are important regulators of vascular stability and remodeling. These molecules are involved not only in the normal development of kidney glomeruli, but also in disease, thus making them promising targets for therapies.

Quantitative analysis of immunofluorescent punctate staining of synaptically localized proteins using confocal microscopy and stereology

Journal of Neuroscience Methods, 2006
We established a protocol for the immunofluorescent detection of glutamate receptor subunits at synaptic sites using laser scanning confocal microscopy and stereological procedures. An in vitro model of eyeblink classical conditioning from turtles was used for this study.

Rotational Integral Geometry and Local Stereology - with a View to Image Analysis

2014
This chapter contains an introduction to rotational integral geometry that is the key tool in local stereological procedures for estimating quantitative properties of spatial structures. In rotational integral geometry, focus is on integrals of geometric functionals with respect to rotation invariant measures.

Localisation of lanosterol 14Α-demethylase in round and elongated spermatids of the mouse testis: an immunoelectron microscopic and stereological study

Pfl?gers Archiv European Journal of Physiology, 2001
Lanosterol 14alpha-demethylase (CYP51) is a microsomal cytochrome P450 enzyme involved in the postsqualene cholesterol biosynthetic pathway. CYP51 removes 14alpha-methyl group from lanosterol], forming FF-MAS (folicular fluid meiosis activating sterol) which accumulates in gonads. The goal of our study is to determine the expression of CYP51 protein in

SAT0442 Subchondral Bone Remodeling, but not Bone Mass, is Increased in Local Early Stage Lesions of the Osteoarthritic Human Hip Joint as Studied by Stereological Histology

Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, 2014
Background Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common joint disease, but the pathology is not fully understood. It has been suggested that bone changes are important for the pathogenesis of OA. However, only few histological studies have examined bone remodelling, and results are conflicting.

Tumor-associated CD66b+ neutrophil and CD8+ lymphocyte densities as independent prognostic factors for recurrence in localized cervical cancer: Automated digital image analysis and observer-assisted stereological assessments.

Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2013
5532 Background: The prognostic impact of tumor-associated immune cells in cervical cancer is unclear. Methods: Automated digital image analysis (DIA) software and observer-assisted stereological (OAS) assessments were used to obtain densities of immunostains for CD66b+ neutrophils, CD163+ macrophages, and CD8+lymphocytes in scanned whole slide ...

Changes in the immunohistochemical localization of estrogen receptor alpha and in the stereological parameters of the testes of mature and aged chickens (Gallus domesticus)

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2019
The aim of this study was to detect through immunohistochemistry the presence of the estrogen receptor alpha (ER-α) in different cell subpopulations, as well as to evaluate the histological and stereological changes of the testes of mature and aged chickens.
