Depth estimation of surface cracks on metallic components by means of lock-in thermography

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2013
In this work, a new method to characterize vertical cracks by lock-in thermography is presented. The heat transfer process induced by a modulated thermal excitation located in the vicinity of the crack is simulated using a finite element method computer package.

Performance analysis of locking policies with limited wait depth

Proceedings of the 1992 ACM SIGMETRICS joint international conference on Measurement and modeling of computer systems, 1992
The performance of a transaction processing system with the standard two-phase locking (2PL) concurrency control (CC) method (with the general waiting policy upon a lock conflict) may be degraded significantly due to transaction blocking in a high lock contention environment. In the limit this effect leads to the thrashing

3D-VNAND Depth Measurement Using OFI Lock-In OBIRCH

International Symposium for Testing and Failure Analysis
Abstract To increase yield and cost competitiveness, FLASH memory device developed vertical stack 3D-VNAND. Furthermore, we introduced Cell over Peripheral (COP), which places peripheral circuits, which were previously located at the same level as memory cells, under the memory cells, thereby reducing the chip size and increasing the ...

Modulation method for minimizing the depth distortion offset of lock-in TOF cameras

2013 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2013
Registered depth and intensity data at a high frame rate, a compact design, low weight and a reduced power consumption have motivated the increasing usage of lock-in time-of-flight cameras in research areas such as computer graphics, machine vision and robotics.

3D object recognition using Kernel PCA based on depth information for twist-lock grasping

2013 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (ROBIO), 2013
The handling of twist-locks has been a heavy burden for the container industry. There have been many efforts in developing automated twist-lock handling solutions. To address this challenge, we are developing a customized mobile manipulator for twist-lock pose estimation and grasping.

Investigation of lock-in infrared thermography for evaluation of subsurface defects size and depth

International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing, 2015
In this study, the investigation on lock-in infrared thermography was done for the detection and estimation of artificial subsurface defects size and depth in stainless steel sample. The experimental and the finite element analysis were performed at several excitation frequencies to interrogate the sample ranging from 0.182 down to 0.021 Hz.

Multilayer Graphene-based Saturable Absorbers With Scalable Modulation Depth for Mode-Locked Fiber Lasers

Nonlinear Optics, 2015
We present an experimental study on the nonlinear optical properties of multilayer graphene-based saturable absorbers. The influence of the saturable absorber parameters on the performance of mode-locked Erbium and Thulium-doped fiber lasers is investigated.

CVD-grown MoSe2 with high modulation depth for ultrafast mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser

Nanotechnology, 2018
Two-dimensional materials have been widely used as optical modulator materials in mode-locked fiber lasers. In terms of the performance of the fiber laser, one with an ultrashort pulse and high stability has great commercial value. Herein, the MoSe2 grown by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method with high modulation depth, quality lattice ...

Effects of submersion depth on the dynamics and deposition of lock-release turbidity currents

Physics of Fluids
This study investigates the influence of the submersion depth on the propagation dynamics and the deposition patterns of turbidity currents using the lock-release configuration. While previous studies have investigated the effects of submersion depth on conservative density currents, its impact on non-conservative, particle-laden currents has received ...
