Genetic characterization of the polycotyledon locus in tomato
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2006Developmental mutants serve as a useful material to unravel the mechanisms necessary for organ development. The polycotyledon (poc) mutant of tomato, with multiple cotyledons in the seedling and varied phenotypic effects in the adult plant is one such mutant.

Journal of Experimental Zoology, 1987
AbstractTyrosinase activities and dopachrome conversion activity were evaluated in extracts made from skins of 6‐day‐old mice that were mutant at the agouti and albino loci. Dopa oxidase (DO) activity of tyrosinase in fully pigmented (C/C) mice is reduced in extracts made from skins of yellow 6‐day‐old mice as compared to those of black mice ...

Genetics of Minute Locus in Drosophila Melanogaster
1980Minutes are a class of dominant mutants that are characterized by their recessive lethality, increased developmental time, smaller body with short fine bristles in the heterozygotes and with varying degrees of reduced survival and fertility (Lindsley et al., 1972).

Molecular and Genetic Analyses at the CF Locus
1991Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most frequent lethal autosomal recessive disorder of Caucasian populations. The disease incidence is commonly quoted as 1 in 2500 (Boat et al., 1989), but varies widely in different populations. Frequencies as low as 1:90,000 exist (Wright and Morton, 1968), and as high as 1:377 in Brittany (Bois et al., 1978), 1:313 in the ...

Somatic and germline genetics at the JAK2 locus
Nature Genetics, 2009Myeloproliferative neoplasms are hematological malignancies frequently associated with somatically acquired mutation of the JAK2 gene. A new study shows that these mutations are preferentially found within a particular inherited JAK2 haplotype, implying the existence of a strong, but uncharacterized, interaction between somatic and germline genetics at

Genetic Mapping of Ir Locus in Man: Linkage to Second Locus of HL-A
Science, 1974Fifty-seven members of a family that spanned three generations were studied for antigen E and ragweed skin sensitivity and HL-A antigens. There was significant association between the haplotype HL-A 2-12 and antigen E skin hypersensitivity (F = .22 to .26) in this family. The map order is first locus of HL-A, second locus of HL-A, and IrE.

The genetics and expression of an esterase locus inAnopheles gambiae
Biochemical Genetics, 1988The main polymorphic system of esterase isoenzymes in adults of the G3 laboratory strain of Anopheles gambiae consists of two to five major bands of activity per individual. The bands are designated 5S, 5F, 13, 14, and 15. In genetic crosses, the genes which coded for the bands assorted as three codominant alleles, Est A, Est B, and Est C, at a single ...

Human protoporphyria: genetic heterogeneity at the ferrochelatase locus
Photodermatology, Photoimmunology & Photomedicine, 1995Inherited deficiency of ferrochelatase results in erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP). Genetic heterogeneity at the locus for human ferrochelatase was investigated. Analysis of genomic DNA of patients with EPP and of control subjects by restriction endonuclease techniques using ten different enzymes detected polymorphisms only at sites recognized by ...

Genetic diversity at the albumin locus
1986INTRODUCTION Although documentation of genetic diversity in man has been long continuing, the mechanisms maintaining this diversity, in particular selective mechanisms, have proved difficult to identify. The role of balancing selection through heterozygote superiority in fitness was the first to be demonstrated in the resistance to Plasmodium ...

Genetic mapping of the hemochromatosis locus on chromosome six
Human Immunology, 1980The purpose of this paper is to report a pedigree with hereditary hemochromatosis in which a recombination between the HLA-A and B loci occurred. Both the maternal and paternal HLA-A3, B7 haplotypes were carrying an allele for hemochromatosis. The A3, B12 haplotype of the proband was a recombinant of the maternal A3, B7 and A28, B12 haplotypes.
