Self‐Recovery of Carbonate‐Contaminated Strontium Titanate (100) Vicinal Surfaces Imaged by Tip‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Strontium titanate, a widely used perovskite material, undergoes changes in surface properties under CO2 adsorption. This study demonstrates a self‐regeneration process where strontium carbonate gradually delaminates, leaving a TiO2 termination. The findings, supported by optical near‐field spectroscopy and density functional theory, have broad ...

Improving the Thermal Performance of Liquid Metal Thermal Interface Materials: The Role of Intermetallic Compounds at the Gallium/Copper Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study reveals the thermal transport mechanism at the gallium/copper interface from the perspective of phonon/electron transport and bonding strength, and the thermal boundary resistance of both the Ga/Ga2O3/Cu and Ga/CuGa2/Cu structures are first measured at nanoscale by using time‐domain thermoreflectance.

On the Structure–Property Relationship of Semi‐Coherent FeCr2O4/Cr2O3 Spinel/Corundum Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics simulations of semi‐coherent spinel/corundum interfaces reveals intimate connections between the chemistry of the interface, the misfit dislocation structure, and the properties of these interfaces. In particular, the thermodynamics and kinetics of defects are greatly influenced by the chemistry and structure of the interfaces ...

Flexible Production of Spherical Powders of Ti‐V‐Zr‐Nb‐Mo‐Hf‐Ta‐W Refractory High‐Entropy Alloys by Plasma‐Assisted Centrifugal Atomization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this work, spherical powders of refractory Ti‐V‐Zr‐Nb‐Mo‐Hf‐Ta‐W high‐entropy alloys (R‐HEAs) have been fabricated in a single step by plasma‐assisted centrifugal atomization. Loss of the heaviest elements in the composition is observed only at rotational speeds higher than 13 000 rpm due to solid‐solid centrifugal separation.
