Unravelling upbuilding pedogenesis in tephra and loess sequences in New Zealand using tephrochronology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The genesis of soils developed in either tephra or loess on stable sites differs markedly from that of soils developed on rock because classical topdown processes operate in conjuction with geological processes whereby material is added to the land ...

Lunar‐Based Photothermal CO2 Reduction Strategy: Self‐Evolving Transient Active Interface and Band Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐evolving Pd/Ov‐FeTiO3 photothermal catalyst, inspired by lunar soil, enables efficient extraterrestrial CO2 conversion. The formation of transient active interfaces and oxygen vacancies extends light absorption to the infrared range and optimizes electron transfer.

Loess records

open access: yes
Loess is an eolian deposit, composed mainly of silt grains, which can be identified in the field as a distinct sedimentary body. It covers a significant portion of the land surface of the Earth and is one of the most important terrestrial archives of long-term dust deposition.

Dry Matter and Minerals in Loblolly Pine Plantation on Four Arkansas Soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Average contents of N, P, K, Ca, and Na and total above ground dry matter were determined in 19-year-old unthinned loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantations in southeastern Arkansas.

Exploratory Analysis of Benchmark Experiments -- An Interactive Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The analysis of benchmark experiments consists in a large part of exploratory methods, especially visualizations. In Eugster et al. [2008] we presented a comprehensive toolbox including the bench plot.

Retinal Vessel Segmentation: A Comprehensive Review From Classical Methods to Deep Learning Advances (1982–2025)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Four decades of retinal vessel segmentation research (1982–2025) are synthesized, spanning classical image processing, machine learning, and deep learning paradigms. A meta‐analysis of 428 studies establishes a unified taxonomy and highlights performance trends, generalization capabilities, and clinical relevance.

Aeolian Dust Preserved in the Guliya Ice Cap (Northwestern Tibet): A Promising Paleo-Environmental Messenger

open access: yesGeosciences, 2022
Asian aeolian dust is a primary factor in Northern Hemisphere atmospheric dynamics. Predicting past and future changes in atmospheric circulation patterns relies in part on sound knowledge of Central Asian dust properties and the dust cycle ...

Electrical Impedance Myography Detects Disease Progression over 12 to 24 Months in Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Targeted therapies for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) are progressing through clinical trials. Electrical impedance myography (EIM) provides a noninvasive biomarker of muscle composition that may be valuable especially in early phase trials. This study evaluated EIM data from a multicenter FSHD cohort over 24 months.

Real‐time monitoring of root dielectric properties for assessing crop plant damage caused by foliar application of glyphosate

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise There is a knowledge gap regarding how foliar injury and restricted water uptake can be detected by measuring root dielectric response. This pot study nondestructively evaluated the efficiency of real‐time dielectric measurement to monitor the effects of glyphosate spraying.
