Gaussian Optimality for Derivatives of Differential Entropy Using Linear Matrix Inequalities
Let Z be a standard Gaussian random variable, X be independent of Z, and t be a strictly positive scalar. For the derivatives in t of the differential entropy of X + t Z , McKean noticed that Gaussian X achieves the extreme for the first and ...

In estimating logistic regression models, convergence of the maximization algorithm is critical; however, this may fail. Numerous bias correction methods for maximum likelihood estimates of parameters have been conducted for cases of complete data sets ...

CDK4/6 inhibition promotes CD8+ T cell expansion through tumor‐macrophage crosstalk by activating HIF‐1α and enhancing MIF‐CD44/CD74 signaling. This reprograms TAMs to boost MHC‐I antigen presentation, and CDK4/6 inhibitor‐trained M1 TAM supernatant therapy synergizes with low‐dose PD‐1 blockade to restore antitumor immunity.

The Kalman filter is the optimal state observer in the case of linear dynamics and Gaussian noise. In this paper, the observer problem is studied when process noise and measurements are generalized from Gaussian to log-concave. This generalization is of interest for example in the case where observations only give information that the signal is in a ...

A flexible, ultrathin multi‐channel microelectrode array (MEA) conformally integrated onto a curved slide‐well enables stable electrical interfacing with 3D cardiac organoids. The geometry‐guided self‐alignment allows simultaneous recording of extracellular field potentials and contractile motion from irregular, beating tissues.

Log-concave probability and its applications [PDF]
In the abstract the authors say that ``this paper catalogs a series of theorems relating log-concavity and/or log-convexity of probability density functions, distribution functions, reliability functions, and their integrals.'' The authors ``list a large number of commonly-used probability distributions and report the log-concavity or log-convexity of ...

A combination of discrete and finite element method models for the current collector deformation and electrochemical performance analysis, respectively. The models are calibrated and validated with electrochemical and imaging data of hard carbon electrodes. These electrodes were manufactured with different parameters (slurry solid contents of 35 and 40

Log-concavity in some parabolic problems
We improve a concavity maximum principle for parabolic equations of the second order, which was initially established by Korevaar, and then we use this result to investigate some boundary value problems.

Foreign labor, peer‐networking and agricultural efficiency in the Italian dairy sector
Abstract While the presence of immigrants in the agricultural sector is widely acknowledged, the empirical evidence on its economic consequences is lacking, especially from a microeconomic perspective. Using the Farm Accountancy Data Network panel data for Italian dairy farms in the period 2008–2018, the present study investigates the relationship ...
