Creep‐Induced Microstructural Evolution in an A2‐B2 Superalloy
A 27.3Ta‐27.3Mo‐27.3Ti‐8Cr‐10Al (at.%) refractory high‐entropy alloy with precipitation‐strengthened A2‐B2 microstructure was studied by creep tests at 1030°C, which demonstrate a transition in deformation mechanisms in the range of 100–150 MPa applied stress. This is associated with changes in dislocation–precipitate interactions. Relevant deformation

Physical Fitness Indices for Data with Non-normal Distribution
[[abstract]]At present, there are only few tools on the evaluation of group physical fitness. Hung proposed physical fitness indices based on the process capability indices (PCI) to assess physical fitness level.

A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Productivity Distribution, Firm Heterogeneity, and Agglomeration: Evidence from firm-level data [PDF]
This paper empirically examines how productivity distributions of firms vary across regions based on Japan's manufacturing census data. We confirm the established finding of higher average productivity in core regions, but find that firm productivity is ...

This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...

Non-negative demand in newsvendor models:The case of singly truncated normal samples
This paper considers the classical newsvendor model when demand is normally distributed but with a large coefficient of variation. This leads to observe with a non-negligible probability negative values that do not make sense.

Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...

Hearing impairment and the log-normal distribution
Data on hearing impairment are studied by using a three-parameter log-normal distribution, all of whose parameters depend on covariates. The fitting algorithm is an extension of generalized linear modelling.
