An Integral Representation of the Logarithmic Function with Applications in Information Theory. [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy (Basel), 2019
We explore a well-known integral representation of the logarithmic function, and demonstrate its usefulness in obtaining compact, easily computable exact formulas for quantities that involve expectations and higher moments of the logarithm of a positive ...

Stabilizing a Rotary Inverted Pendulum Based on Logarithmic Lyapunov Function

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, 2017
The stabilization of a Rotary Inverted Pendulum based on Lyapunov stability theorem is investigated in this paper. The key of designing control laws by Lyapunov control method is the construction of Lyapunov function.

Splines and the logarithmic function [PDF]

open access: yesPacific Journal of Mathematics, 1975
Abstract : Let q be fixed, q>1, and let f(x) = log x/log q in (0, pos infinity). The paper determines the unique spline function (S sub n)(x), of degree n, defined in (0, pos infinity) and having as knots the points of the sequence (q sup nu) (neg infinity 0, and (S sub n)(1) = 0. It follows that (S sub n)(q nu) = f(q sup nu) for all integers nu.

A more accurate half-discrete Hardy-Hilbert-type inequality with the logarithmic function [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
By means of the weight functions, the technique of real analysis and Hermite-Hadamard’s inequality, a more accurate half-discrete Hardy-Hilbert-type inequality related to the kernel of logarithmic function and a best possible constant factor is given ...

Predicting recovery of cognitive function soon after stroke: differential modeling of logarithmic and linear regression. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Cognitive disorders in the acute stage of stroke are common and are important independent predictors of adverse outcome in the long term. Despite the impact of cognitive disorders on both patients and their families, it is still difficult to predict the ...

The compound logarithmic function

open access: yesMathematica Slovaca, 2013
Abstract We define the compound logarithmic function on simple connected region. As an application of such function, we point out a slight mistake of Hayman in his proof for logarithmic derivative theorem (Lemma 2.3, Page 36), in his book Meromorphic Functions, published in 1964. We modify his proof.

Tensor Recovery Based on a Novel Non-Convex Function Minimax Logarithmic Concave Penalty Function [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2022
Non-convex relaxation methods have been widely used in tensor recovery problems, compared with convex relaxation methods, and can achieve better recovery results.

Highly Contrast Image Correction for Dim Boundary Separation of Image Semantic Segmentation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The efficiency and accuracy of the image semantic segmentation algorithm represent a trade-off relationship, and the loss of accuracy tends to increase as the model structure simplifies to improve efficiency.

Third Hankel Determinant for the Logarithmic Coefficients of Starlike Functions Associated with Sine Function

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2022
The logarithmic functions have been used in a verity of areas of mathematics and other sciences. As far as we know, no one has used the coefficients of logarithmic functions to determine the bounds for the third Hankel determinant.
