The physiologic and clinicopathologic effects of weathered South Louisiana crude oil exposure were studied in the laboratory in juvenile loggerhead sea turtles. Sea turtles ingested oil incidentally, and oil was observed clinging to the nares, eyes, and upper esophagus, and was found in the feces.

Data on migrations of sea turtles in the Adriatic Sea are extremely rare. In the first 10 years of the implementation of tagging programs in the Mediterranean basin (1981/82-1992), 13 tagged loggerheads were recaptured in the Adriatic Sea, only 4 being reported from Croatian waters.

The primary structure of myoglobin from the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) has been determined; the protein consists of 153 amino acid residues. The ferric loggerhead sea turtle myoglobin has been crystallized in a form suitable for X-ray structural investigations.
