Migrations of the loggerhead sea turtle, Caretta caretta, into the Adriatic Sea [PDF]
Data on migrations of sea turtles in the Adriatic Sea are extremely rare. In the first 10 years of the implementation of tagging programs in the Mediterranean basin (1981/82-1992), 13 tagged loggerheads were recaptured in the Adriatic Sea, only 4 being reported from Croatian waters.

Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1995The physiologic and clinicopathologic effects of weathered South Louisiana crude oil exposure were studied in the laboratory in juvenile loggerhead sea turtles. Sea turtles ingested oil incidentally, and oil was observed clinging to the nares, eyes, and upper esophagus, and was found in the feces.

2008The northern Adriatic Sea is one of the most important foraging habitats for loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) in the Mediterranean. Its shallow continental shelf, favorable sea temperatures and rich benthic communities constitute feeding areas for loggerheads in neritic stage.
