Rank Regression with Log Gamma Residuals

Biometrika, 1988
Summary: A robust analysis for field data is proposed using a stratified rank regression model. That analysis follows \textit{A. N. Pettitt} [J. R. Stat. Soc., Ser. B 44, 234-243 (1982; Zbl 0493.62044)]. Alternatively, a new technique is described where residuals are log gamma random variables.

Southern Logging Residues: An Opportunity

Journal of Forestry, 1973
Abstract On clearcut areas in Alabama in 1972, about eight cords per acre were left in residual trees, tops of cut trees, unused bole sections, and above-ground portions of stumps. Chipping at landings appears to be the most promising way of harvesting the majority of this material.

Improved Utilization and Disposal of Logging Residues

Transactions of the ASAE, 1975
ABSTRACT PRESENT economic conditions *• dictate the need for significant improvement in wood resource use. More effective and efficient use of logging residue is one of the most promising areas for such an improve-ment. This paper considers two main aspects — improved utilization and better methods of disposal.

The storage of logging residue for fuel

Biomass and Bioenergy, 1999
Abstract The effect of storage on the fuelwood properties of Norway spruce logging residue were studied. The characteristics under study included moisture and needle content, and elemental composition. Storages included uncomminuted residue piles on the clear-cut left by single grip harvester, uncomminuted residue in large windrows at road side ...

Residual Plots for Log Odds Ratio Regression Models

Biometrics, 1991
This article describes graphical diagnostic methods for log odds ratio regression models. To study the effects of an additional covariate on log odds ratio regression analysis, three types of residual plots based on weighted least squares (WLS) are discussed: (i) added variable plot (partial regression plot), (ii) partial residual plot, and (iii ...

Evaluation of Waterflood Residual Oil Saturations Using Log-Inject-Log Procedures

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1977
The log-inject-log procedure provides more accurate reservoir saturation values by eliminating the need for some of the basic parameters required in the conventional analyses of a single log. Twelve examples of the utility and limitations of the technique are presented.

Hollow logs and logging residues from Deramakot Forest Reserve, Sabah, Malaysia

Forest Ecology and Management, 2002
Abstract To optimize the use of resources of Deramakot Forest Reserve, a model area for sustainable management of tropical forests in Sabah, Malaysia, a study on the utilization of hollow logs and other logging residues was initiated. In a pilot study, how much high quality timber can be extracted from trees regarded as hollow by the felling team of ...

Is Use of Both Pulpwood and Logging Residues Instead of Only Logging Residues for Bioenergy Development a Viable Carbon Mitigation Strategy?

BioEnergy Research, 2013
This study adopts an integrated life-cycle approach to assess overall carbon saving related with the utilization of wood pellets manufactured using pulpwood and logging residues for electricity generation. Carbon sequestered in wood products and wood present in landfills and avoided carbon emissions due to substitution of grid electricity with the ...

Determining Residual Oil With The Nuclear Magnetism Log

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1974
Given a reservoir with an immobile oil saturation, a mobile water phase, and proper open-hole conditions, the nuclear magnetism logging tool can be used to determine the amount of residual oil and the vertical distribution of the residual oil near the wellbore.
