AbstractMiniaturization has been an essential ingredient in the outstanding progress of information technology over the past fifty years. The next, perhaps ultimate, limit of miniaturization is that of molecules, which are the smallest entities with definite size, shape, and properties.

Microelectrochemical Logic Circuits
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2003We report microelectrochemical devices that mimic some functions of solid-state circuit components such as diodes and transistors. The operation of this new family of devices is enabled by a network of microfluidic electrochemical cells that communicate with one-another via conductive solutions and, in some cases, bipolar electrodes.

Recent progress in Josephson digital logic circuits is described. It is noted that changing the junction material from a lead alloy to niobium has dramatically improved process reliability, and that high-speed, low-power operations have been demonstrated at large-scale integrated-circuit levels.

On Magnetic Bubble Logic Circuits
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1976This paper is concerned with the realization of logic functions by using two-input magnetic bubble logic elements. A magnetic bubble logic element is the multiple-output logic element whose number of ``1'' 's of the output is equal to that of corresponding input, and fanout of each output terminal of the element is restricted to one.

A synthesis procedure must be based upon some cost function or functions. In many systems this cost function is associated with performance. But the usual cost function associated with switching circuits is associated with the cost of realization. Inspection of switching circuits indicates that many switching circuits are not used efficiently and that ...

Analysis of short-circuit conditions in logic circuits
Design, Automation & Test in Europe Conference & Exhibition (DATE), 2017, 2017The motivation for this paper is the analysis of input conditions that cause a short-circuit in a logic circuit, that is, that create a direct path from the power supply to ground. We model the logic circuit as a graph where edges represent transistors which are either open or closed, function of the input conditions.

Logic devices, including OR, AND, NOT, and NOR gates, based on single-crystalline ZnO nanorods are demonstrated. In these devices, ZnO nanorods are employed as semiconducting channels. They control metal/oxide semiconductor junction characteristics, to yield either good ohmic or Schottky contacts, ensuring fabrication of high-performance Schottky ...

In a carrier-type digital computer system, binary information can be represented by the presence or absence of an RF pulse in a given time interval. Using strip-line printed circuit techniques and point-contact diodes, passive AND and NOT gates were constructed which operate with RF pulses of less than 2 m?sec duration (i.e., an effective pulse ...
