A hidden Markov model and reinforcement learning‐based strategy for fault‐tolerant control
Abstract This study introduces a data‐driven control strategy integrating hidden Markov models (HMM) and reinforcement learning (RL) to achieve resilient, fault‐tolerant operation against persistent disturbances in nonlinear chemical processes. Called hidden Markov model and reinforcement learning (HMMRL), this strategy is evaluated in two case studies

On Prucnal's model-determined logic and definable predicates [PDF]
Summary: \textit{T. Prucnal}'s concept of a logic determined by a model [Bull. Sect. Log., Pol. Acad. Sci. 19, 58--60 (1990; Zbl 0715.03002)] is discussed. It is proved that logics different from pure first-order logic can be determined by models with undecidable theories.

Noise, Non-Determinism and Spatial Uncertainty
This paper presents a logical account of sensor data assimilation in a mobile robot, based on abduction. Unlike previous work, the present formulation handles sensor noise as well as motor noise.

Classical Pragmatism and Metaphysics: James and Peirce on Scientific Determinism [PDF]
The present paper has two main aims. The first one is philosophical and is related to the general topic of this volume (Logical Empiricism and Pragmatism): I would like to draw attention to the fact that the issue of classical scientific determinism ...

Breadth at the Helm: Generalist CEOs and Corporate ESG Performance‐Evidence From China
ABSTRACT Drawing on the Upper Echelons Theory and the Imprinting Theory, this study conjectures that generalist CEOs may have a stronger tendency to pursue environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals. We perform multiple regression analyses with observations of Shanghai and Shenzhen A‐share listed companies from 2010 to 2023 in order to explore ...

ABSTRACT Green bonds play a central role in sustainable finance, yet concerns about greenwashing raise questions about the credibility of issuers' sustainability disclosures. Using dictionary‐based methods and domain‐specific BERT transformer models, this paper proposes two greenwashing alert metrics and investigates their performance by analyzing ...

Logical Support for Design of Rule-Based Systems. Reliability and Quality Issues
. In this paper selected logical foundations for design of reliable and efficient rule-based systems are investigated. The problems of logical analysis of theoretical properties of rule-based systems are considered.

A Novel Multilevel Conceptual Framework for Flood Risk Governance
ABSTRACT Globally, flood risk is increasing as climate change progresses. Contemporary flood risk management practice often utilises hydrodynamic modelling (for hazard risk assessments), social vulnerability assessments, and risk communications in silo, which fragments evidence‐based decision‐making for effective flood risk management. We hence develop
