Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Logistic LASSO Regression for Dietary Intakes and Breast Cancer

open access: yesNutrients, 2020
A multitude of dietary factors from dietary fat to macro and micronutrients intakes have been associated with breast cancer, yet data are still equivocal. Therefore, utilizing data from the large, multi-year, cross-sectional National Health and Nutrition

Stable tail dependence functions – some basic properties

open access: yesDependence Modeling, 2022
We prove some important properties of the extremal coefficients of a stable tail dependence function (“STDF”) and characterise logistic and some related STDFs.

Identifiability of multivariate logistic mixture models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Mixture models have been widely used in modeling of continuous observations. For the possibility to estimate the parameters of a mixture model consistently on the basis of observations from the mixture, identifiability is a necessary condition.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Mathematical Modeling and Analysis of Tumor Growth Models Integrating Treatment Therapy

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications
This study presents a comparative analysis of tumor growth models based on logistic, exponential, and Gompertz formulations. Their response to therapeutic intervention is examined to identify which model shows better behavior with minimal decline of ...

An Integrated MC-HFLTS&MAIRCA Method and Application in Cargo Distribution Companies [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Supply and Operations Management, 2019
Cargo transportation is part of the logistic sectors. Both service quality and customer satisfaction are very important for companies which provide cargo transportation services. This study aims to evaluate cargo companies via DMs (customers) preferences

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Logistic or linear? Estimating causal effects of experimental treatments on binary outcomes using regression analysis.

open access: yesJournal of experimental psychology. General, 2019
When the outcome is binary, psychologists often use nonlinear modeling strategies such as logit or probit. These strategies are often neither optimal nor justified when the objective is to estimate causal effects of experimental treatments.
