Through the Sands of Time: Evolutionary History and Systematics of the Awl‐Headed Snakes (Colubridae: Lytorhynchus) in the Saharo‐Sindian Region

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The psammophilous colubrid genus Lytorhynchus is widely distributed in the deserts of the Saharo‐Sindian region and adjacent areas. The taxonomy of the genus and the number of recognised species have remained unstable since the last taxonomic revision in 1970, with differing views on the taxonomic status of L. gaddi and L. kennedyi.

Corn tolerance and weed control with amicarbazone and metribuzin applied preemergence

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Since the late 1950s, atrazine has been a cornerstone of corn (Zea mays L.) weed control, but decades of use have raised concerns about groundwater contamination and enhanced biodegradation. Therefore, amicarbazone and metribuzin were evaluated as alternatives to preemergence use of atrazine in corn.

Sensitivity of 3D Base‐Isolated Buildings to Individual Isolator Variability

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 11, Page 2653-2668, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Variability in elastomeric isolators arises from differences in rubber formulation and curing, leading to noticeable changes in stiffness and damping among nominally identical bearings. While most previous studies have examined global isolator variability associated with environmental or aging effects, individual isolator variability has ...

Seismic Structural Reliability by Time‐Variant Fragility Functions

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 11, Page 2669-2674, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The seismic vulnerability of aging structures is often represented in the form of fragility curves that vary with time. On one hand, each of these functions is intended to apply if the earthquake hits at the time the fragility refers to. On the other hand, performance‐based earthquake engineering (PBEE) resources to classical probabilistic ...

Multi‐Hazard Shaking‐Tsunami Fatality Risk Estimation for Coastal Communities

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 11, Page 2618-2633, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This study develops a multi‐hazard fatality risk model for a coastal community (Tofino) on Vancouver Island, Canada, subjected to earthquake‐tsunami threats from the Cascadia subduction megathrust events. The model incorporates variable population distributions and uncertain fatality rate models, in addition to other key model components, such
