Laser Engineering of HfN‐Based Nanoparticles for Safe NIR‐I Photothermal and X‐ray Enhancing Cancer Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 36, 4 May 2026.
In this study, we produced HfN‐based nanoparticles via femtosecond laser ablation in acetone. The nanoparticles exhibit a red‐shifted plasmonic resonance in the NIR‐I window, colloidal stability after coating with polyethyleneglycol, and excellent biocompatibility. The photothermal and X‐ray sensitization therapeutic effects were demonstrated for tumor

Oral Streptococcus salivarius Couples Neutrophil IRGM1 Signaling to NET Formation and Colorectal Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
The oral bacterium Streptococcus salivarius promotes colorectal cancer metastasis by inducing neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation. Mechanistically, IRGM1–IQGAP1 interaction activates Wnt5a–PI3K/AKT signaling in neutrophils, driving NET‐mediated tumor progression.

Food Web Properties and the Type of Invasive Species Make the Ecosystem Vulnerable to Invasion

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Invasive species have long been acknowledged as potentially severe dangers to native ecosystems. Although some work has also been done with empirical food webs, more information is still needed to shed light on the cascading effects of invasive species in aquatic ecosystems.

Aggregation of Modified Glucuronoxylan in Water and DMSO

open access: yesBiopolymers, Volume 117, Issue 3, May 2026.
Neutron scattering study of dispersibility of glucuronoxylan and modified glucuronoxylan, in water and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). ABSTRACT Glucuronoxylans are known to be only partly soluble in aqueous media. Chemical modification often aims to improve solubility, yet observations of aggregation even of the modified xylans are not uncommon.

Enhanced High‐Rate Cycling Performance of Nickel‐Rich Li[Ni0.88Co0.09Mn0.03]O2 Cathodes Through Sc2O3 Doping

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
Sc2O3 doping enhances the stability and rate capability of nickel‐rich LNCM88 cathodes. Despite a slight initial capacity loss, 1 wt% Sc2O3 achieves superior cycling performance, delivering 93.1% retention at 0.1 C and improved full‐cell durability, demonstrating a promising strategy for high‐power lithium‐ion batteries.

Sustainable Preparation of Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework‐8 in Water: From Early‐Stage Life Cycle Assessment to the Industrial Scale

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2026.
A sustainable aqueous route for the synthesis of ZIF‐8 is presented. The method avoids organic solvents and operates under mild conditions, enabling the formation of highly crystalline material. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is employed to quantitatively evaluate the environmental benefits, confirming the advantages of water‐based synthesis compared with

The Prevention of Eating Disorders in Australian Adolescents: A Modeled Cost‐Effectiveness Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, Volume 59, Issue 5, Page 952-964, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Prevention programs for eating disorders (EDs) have the potential to reduce the onset of these diseases and improve the mental health and well‐being of the general population. However, there is mixed evidence on whether routine implementation of such programs at the population level is cost‐effective.
