Exploring the Parameter Space of Colloidal High‐Entropy Alloy Synthesis Methods

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 2, February 2026.
We present a systematic study of the parameter space of a simple colloidal synthesis method in which high‐entropy alloy (HEA) nanoparticles (NPs) are formed in triethylene glycol. Ultra‐small (1‐3 nm), single‐phase HEA nanoparticles are obtained via a hot‐injection approach.

Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Gyrodactylus nigeri (Platyhelminthes: Monogenea)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
The fish Yunnanilus niger is the host of Gyrodactylus nigeri. The mitochondrial genome of G. nigeri is 14,903 bp in length. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that this species belonged to the genus Gyrodactylus and Gyrodactylidae forms an independent monophyletic clade within Gyrodactylidea.

Pleistocene Climate Oscillations and Geographic Barriers Shaped the Phylogeographic Structure of Anaplecta omei (Blattodea, Blattoidea, Anaplectidae) in Southern China: Evidence From Mitochondrial Genomes

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
We used 97 complete mitochondrial genomes from 24 distinct geographic populations to characterize the genetic diversity, population structure, and evolutionary history of Anaplecta omei. Our results indicate that tectonic uplift, Pleistocene climate oscillations, and complex topography have jointly shaped the phylogeographic diversification and ...

Multilocus Phylogeny of Asiatic Striped Squirrels (Sciuridae, Tamiops) Reveals Their Evolutionary Relationships and Species Limits

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
The genus Tamiops has long been underestimated in terms of species diversity due to reliance on seasonal fur coloration. This study integrates mitochondrial whole‐genome and nuclear gene data to identify seven monophyletic lineages, elevating T. maritimus hainanus to independent species status.

American kestrel population trends and vital rates at the continental scale

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The American kestrel (Falco sparverius, hereafter referred to as kestrel) has declined across much of its North American range since at least the mid‐1960s. Kestrel population dynamics have been explored through a multitude of local studies and two broad reviews of available data. Across large geographic extents, however, the demographic cause(
