An Examination of the Reasons for, and Variability of, the Differences Between Response Spectra and Pseudo Response Spectra

open access: yesEarthquake Spectra, Volume 42, Issue 4, November 2026.
For many decades, it has been common practice to overlook the differences between response spectra and pseudo response spectra. This practice stems from analyses indicating that the average difference between response spectra and pseudo response spectra is negligible for a viscous damping ratio of 5%, which is near‐universally adopted.

Fragility Functions for Plasterboard‐Sheathed Walls in Light Timber‐Framed Residential Houses

open access: yesEarthquake Spectra, Volume 42, Issue 4, November 2026.
In New Zealand, plasterboard‐sheathed walls (PSWs) are commonly used as partition walls and seismic bracing walls in low‐rise light timber‐framed (LTF) residential houses. A significant barrier to assessing seismic losses of the LTF residential houses in New Zealand is the lack of fragility functions of these PSWs.

Threshold Asymmetric Conditional Autoregressive Range (TACARR) Model

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, Volume 45, Issue 7, Page 3298-3326, November 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a Threshold Asymmetric Conditional Autoregressive Range (TACARR) model for analyzing the daily price ranges of financial assets. The proposed formulation assumes that the conditional expected range switches between two regimes, representing upward and downward market states, with the disturbance distribution also allowed ...

No added cost: Emotion recognition in co‐occurring ADHD and ASD

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Psychology, Volume 65, Issue 4, Page 981-999, November 2026.
Abstract Objectives Facial emotion recognition (FER) is fundamental for social interaction, yet this ability is often impaired in attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). While research has documented these difficulties, two key questions remain: Are these deficits specific to recognising emotions or do they ...

On the Origin of the Tingidae (Insecta, Heteroptera)

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 876-892, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The hypothesis of a Gondwanian origin of the family Tingidae (Insecta, Heteroptera) has been promoted and seems to be generally accepted by specialists. However, the area of emergence and diversification of the clade, South American or Australian, is still debated and cannot be solved without integrating Vianaidinae, a subfamily considered as ...
