In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Equilibrium of a wood stack formed by close-packed cylindrical logs [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ensino de Física
The static equilibrium of cylindrical wood pieces in a close-packed order is analyzed. By considering the coefficient of static friction μ L between two adjacent logs and the coefficient of static friction μ G between the logs and the ground, it ...

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Wood decomposition activity of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) isolate in situ

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2013
The purpose of the research was to examine the decomposition rate of beech (Fagus sylvatica) and aspen (Populus tremula) logs after an oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) infection as well as the effect of fruit body formation on the chemical ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

CÁLCULO DEL TIEMPO DE TRÁNSITO PROMEDIO DE LA MATRIZ PARA PREDECIR LA POROSIDAD EN FORMACIONES USANDO UN ESTUDIO ESTADÍSTICO MODERADO

open access: yesRevista Fuentes El Reventón Energético, 2009
One of the main problems present in the hydrocarbon industry is the lack of available information necessary to conduct a detailed study of the characteristics of the subsoil, as is the sonic propagation speed, useful for calculating porosity, rock¿s ...

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...
