Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The matrix equation \(\log (XY)=\log (X)+\log (Y)\)
Linear Algebra and its Applications, 2010 Let \(X,Y\) be \(n\times n\) complex matrices such that \(X,Y,XY\) have no eigenvalues on \(\mathbb R^-\) and \(\log (XY)=\log (X)+\log (Y)\). The authors prove that if \(n=2\), or if \(n\geqslant 3\) and \(X,Y\) are simultaneously triangularizable, then \(X,Y\) commute. In both cases the problem is reduced to a result in complex analysis.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Molecular Oncology, EarlyView.Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).
