Tetraploid Induction in Lolium multiflorum

2018
The induction of tetraploids from diploid cultivars of L. multiflorum is important in improving the germplasm. The aim of the study is to investigate the optimal concentration and time duration to induce tetraploids from diploid cultivars of L. multiflorum.

Stickstoffausnutzungsvermögen von Lolium perenne und Lolium multiflorum‐Sorten

Journal of Agronomy and Crop Science, 1988
Abstract Selection for improved nitrogen‐utilization in Lolium In a 3‐year study the responses of 14 Lolium perenne‐varieties and 14 of Lolium multiflorum to different nitrogen fertilization (75, 150, 300 kg N/ha) were investigated. The varieties were classificated into four types of nitrogen utilization. “Low input varieties” can be found in type III.

Effects of storage temperature and combined microbial inoculants on fermentation end products and microbial populations of Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) silage

Journal of Applied Microbiology, 2018
To examine five lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains (LCG9, LTG7, I5, TG1 and LI3) isolated from the Tibetan Plateau, and evaluate their combined effects on the silage quality of Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) at three temperatures (10, 15 and ...

Isolation, Culture and Regeneration of Lolium Perenne and Lolium Multiflorum Protoplasts

1988
For the application of most genetic manipulation techniques a reliable system for plant regeneration from single cells and protoplasts is a prerequisite. In the Gramineae plant regeneration from protoplasts has been achieved only when morphogenically competent cell suspensions were used for protoplast isolation.

The dynamics of aneuploidy in an induced tetraploid population of Lolium multiflorum x Lolium perenne

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1982
Populations of induced polyploids invariably contain a substantial proportion of aneuploid individuals. A model is described which can predict the level of aneuploidy in successive generations of a closed population of Lolium tetraploids. The results demonstrate clearly that the proportion of aneuploid individuals increases sharply for two to three ...

Hybrid Breeding by Means of Incompatibility in Lolium Multiflorum [PDF]

open access: possible, 1994
F1-hybrid varieties in forage grasses can exploit a higher degree of heterozygosity than the currently available synthetics. This requires a genetical mechanism that allows multiplication of inbred lines as well as it ensures a sufficient outcrossing between the lines.

Photosynthesis and Photorespiration inLolium multiflorumandLolium perenne

Journal of Experimental Botany, 1971
The response of net photosynthesis to changing light-flux density by leaves of Lolium multiflorum (S. 22) and L. perenne (S. 321) is more adequately described by current models when a term allowing for photorespiration is included. The magnitude of this term was determined from the changes in the slope of the light-response curves for net ...

Different dry matters content used for the conservation of annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) in anaerobic environment

, 2019
Annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) is widely used for feeding ruminants, and the conservation of this material as haylage can be an alternative to farms. The aim of this work is to study the nutritional and microbiological value of annual ryegrass

Glyphosate‐resistant Lolium multiflorum in Chilean orchards

Weed Research, 2003
Summary Lolium multiflorum (Italian ryegrass) seeds suspected of being resistant to glyphosate were collected from fruit orchards at two locations, San Bernardo (SB) and Olivar (OL), Chile, that had been treated an average of three times per year with the isopropylamine salt of glyphosate during the previous 8–10 years.
