Legume based plant mixtures for delivery of multiple ecosystem services: An overview of benefits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
As costs for mineral fertilizers rise, legume-based leys are recognised as a potential alternative nitrogen source for crops. Here we demonstrate that including species-rich legume-based leys in the rotation helps to maximize synergies between ...

Can management intensity be more important than environmental factors? A case study along an extreme elevation gradient from central Italian cereal fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper aims to assess the importance of environmental and management factors determining the weed species composition along a strong elevation gradient.

Forage grasses with lower uptake of caesium and strontium could provide 'safer' crops for radiologically contaminated areas. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Substitution of a species or cultivar with higher uptake of an element by one with lower uptake has been proposed as a remediation strategy following accidental releases of radioactivity.

Comparative "Golgi" Proteome Study of Lolium multiflorum and Populus trichocarpa. [PDF]

open access: yesProteomes, 2016
The Golgi apparatus (GA) is a crucial organelle in the biosynthesis of non-cellulosic polysaccharides, glycoproteins and proteoglycans that are primarily destined for secretion to the cell surface (plasma membrane, cell wall and apoplast). Only a small proportion of the proteins involved in these processes have been identified in plants, with the ...

Glyphosate resistance and EPSPS gene amplification confirmed in a waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) biotype from Connecticut

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) is an economically important broadleaf weed that threatens corn and soybean production across the United States. A waterhemp biotype (CT_Res [resistant biotype from Connecticut]) surviving multiple glyphosate applications was identified from a corn field in Connecticut (CT). Greenhouse and laboratory studies

Agronomic effectiveness of nitrogen and phosphorus recovered from swine manure

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract New technologies have been developed to extract and recover manure nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) that can be upcycled as substitutes for conventional fertilizers. Yet, there are uncertainties over the agronomic effectiveness of these recovered nutrients.

Залежність тривалості функціонування і продуктивності трав’янистих рослинних угруповань від їхнього видового складу [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Результати багаторічного вивчення розвитку видів рослин у складі трав’янистих угруповань показали позитивний вплив багатокомпонентного складу на продуктивність надземної маси та на тривалість їх функціонування у травостої.

Comparing activated charcoal and biochar for carbon‐seeding in grass seed production

open access: yesCrop, Forage &Turfgrass Management, Volume 11, Issue 1, June 2025.
Abstract Perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L. ssp. perenne) seed production fields in western Oregon are often established using carbon‐seeding, which consists of applying a band of activated charcoal (AC) over the seed row at the time of sowing. A preemergent herbicide is then broadcast applied to the field prior to rainfall or irrigation.
