Intensive rainfed and irrigated forage crop production for Mediterranean Italian Buffalo feeding

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
Buffalo intensive husbandry represents the most lucrative dairy activity in Campania Region. The main forage crop system used in this area are based on winter Italian reygrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) and spring corn (Zea mays L.).

Akdeniz İklimi Koşullarında Bazı Biryıllık Çim (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) Çeşitlerinin Adaptasyonu

open access: yesCukurova University, Agriculture Faculty, 2021

Biomonitoring of airborne fluoride and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in industrial areas of Cordoba, Argentina, using standardized grass cultures of Lolium multiflorum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A biomonitoring study was performed employing standardized grass cultures. Plants of Lolium multiflorum were exposed at 4 industrial sites over three?month periods in two seasons (dry and rainy) and the biomass produced was used for subsequent ...

Promoción de raigrás anual naturalizado (Lolium multiflorum L.) en la cuenca del río Salado. Evaluación de la producción invernal de forraje en pastoreo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Effective operation of grazing production systems needs control the production of forage at farm level. A nine year old stand of enhanced tame native ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) (RGE) and an annual crop of Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.

Forage Plant Host and Early Feeding Choices Affect Spodoptera litura Feeding, Development and Egg‐Laying

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
We assessed Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) performance on five common pasture plant species. Larvae consumed more dock, plantain and chicory per day than red or white clover, but with lower conversion efficiencies. Feeding on red clover reduced weights and egg laying, and lengthened development times compared with plantain.

Performance of beef heifers supplemented with extruded fat on italian ryegrass pasture

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2016
Productive and reproductive performance of beef heifers grazing on Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) were analyzed, comprising animals exclusively on pasture and supplemented animals with extruded fat (0.15 or 0.30% of body weight). The grazing

Free‐living Black‐tailed Godwits maintain constant intake rates across varying grassland habitat conditions by adjusting their foraging behaviour

open access: yesIbis, EarlyView.
Free‐living birds need to acquire enough food to fulfil their energetic needs, which may require more effort in habitats with less favourable conditions. Therefore, to maintain their necessary energy intake, birds need to adjust their foraging behaviour in response to varying habitat conditions.

Validation of a portable near‐infrared reflectance spectrometer to determine harvest maturity in grass seed crops

open access: yesCrop, Forage &Turfgrass Management, Volume 12, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract Seed moisture content (SMC) is the most reliable indicator of seed maturity and the optimal harvest timing in grass seed crops. Current SMC testing methodologies used in grass seed crops are slow or inaccurate, making it difficult to make timely harvest decisions.

open access: yesCiencia Veterinaria, 2019
The use of management strategies, such as adjustment of grazing intensity and nitrogen fertilization, are fundamental for the success of animal production, in crop-livestock integration systems (IAG).
