ABSTRACTThe Late Cretaceous (late Cenomanian‐Campanian) Loma Chumico Formation consists of laminated to massive bedded siliceous shales, cherts, ash fall tuffs/volcanic glass beds and volcaniclastic sandstones. The Loma Chumico Formation is at least 630 m thick (core data) in the Tempisque Basin, and can be subdivided in the subsurface into organic ...

Abstract The limestones of the Loma Negra Formation provide an excellent opportunity to examine the behaviour of rare earth elements plus yttrium (REY) due to the near-zero diagenetic alteration of the carbonate system. The terrigenous supply to this unit was minimal or scarce in relation to the depth of seawater in which the limestones accumulated ...

The 1989 Loma Prieta, California, earthquake is characterized by the lack of major, throughgoing, coseismic, right‐lateral faulting along strands of the San Andreas fault zone in the epicentral area. Instead, throughout the Summit Ridge area there are zones of tension cracks and left‐lateral fracture zones oriented about N45°W, that is, roughly ...

Abstract This article uses measurements from outcrops of the Point Loma Formation to define the hierarchical organization of a distributive submarine fan and spatial changes in its constituent parts. A four-tier hierarchy for lobes is documented: bed, element, complex, and system.

Abstract Detailed sedimentological and stratigraphical studies were performed in the Pilmatue Member of the Agrio Formation at Loma La Torre area, to recognize orbital signals in the Valanginian–Hauterivian of the Neuquen Basin. Facies analysis allowed us to recognize 4 facies associations, interpreted as a mixed siliciclastic-carbonate ramp setting.

Abstract Previous petrologic study of sandstones from the Upper Cretaceous Point Loma Formation utilized methodology advocated by Folk (1974). In order to improve comparability with other provenance studies of Cretaceous sandstones in California, new modal data for sandstones from the Point Loma Formation were determined using the ...

Abstract The objectives of the research were to compare the efficacy of ProVale yeast beta-glucan (β-glucan) with that of a previously tested research-grade yeast β-glucan preparation when administered as an intraperitoneal (IP) injection and to also pilot test the effectiveness of ProVale yeast β-glucan as a feed additive for reducing ...

Abstract During steady-state weathering, the rate of removal of the exposed weathering zone is balanced by the rate of generation of mineralogically identical material through chemical weathering. As steady-state conditions prevail, the mineralogical and chemical composition of sediments derived from the weathering profile should be ...
