Functional diversity in agricultural landscapes: evidence of long‐term clustering and multi‐scale effects of land use on avian communities

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Functional diversity (FD) is an essential community property connecting biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and conservation objectives. In agricultural landscapes, avian communities, which play key functional roles, are facing large‐scale biodiversity erosion, largely due to land‐use changes.

Environmental Footprint of Diffuse Emissions in European Functional Urban Areas

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper quantifies the environmental footprint of diffuse air emissions across 776 European functional urban areas (FUAs) from 2005 to 2022 by coupling Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) gridded inventories with the Environmental Footprint (EF) 3.1 framework.

Diamine Grafting of Pyrazole‐Based MOF‐303 for Diluted‐Source CO2 Capture

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Vapor‐phase diffusion of ethylenediamine (EDA) into the pyrazole‐based MOF‐303 framework enables efficient amine grafting via pyrazole deprotonation and ion‐pair–stabilized hydrogen bonding with the pore walls. Spectroscopic analyses elucidate the interaction, while breakthrough experiments confirm the material's performance and cyclability.

Reducing the use of Fossil Carbon and Fuels to Defossilize the Electric Steelmaking Route: Evaluation of the Effects of Alternative C‐Bearing Materials and Hydrogen in the Electric Arc Furnace

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The experiments and simulations demonstrate that, in general, alternative carbon sources can decrease fossil CO2 without adversely impacting EAF process and product. High plastics and tires ratios cause unsafe conditions and poor slag foaming. Hydrogen in EAF burners decreases CO2 but increases water vapor, which can raise the hydrogen content in ...
