Characteristic control of long period fiber grating (LPFG) fabricated by infrared femtosecond laser

open access: yesFrontiers of Optoelectronics, 2012
Long period fiber gratings (LPFGs) with different spectral characteristics were fabricated with 1 kHz, 50 fs laser pulses. The contrast of resonant rejection band can be significantly increased by a proper amount of axial stress along a fiber during laser writing or post-processing with lower energy density laser irradiation.

3 W average-power high-order mode pulse in dissipative soliton resonance mode-locked fiber laser

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2021
Recently high-order modes (HOMs) lasers have been extensively investigated due to their potential applications in mode-division multiplexing. In this paper, we present two schemes of generating HOMs from the mode-locked fiber lasers (MLFLs) in the ...

Simultaneous generation of first- to fourth-order OAM modes based on a cascaded preset-twist long-period fiber grating

open access: yesNanophotonics
We propose and demonstrate the simulation and fabrication of an all-fiber orbital angular momentum (OAM) mode converter capable of generating first- to fourth-order modes simultaneously, which is realized by inscribing a cascaded preset-twist long-period

Optimized Strain Long-Period Fiber Grating (LPFG) Sensors Operating at the Dispersion Turning Point [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lightwave Technology, 2018
Two phenomena for enhancing the sensitivity of longperiod fiber gratings are combined toward an increase of the sensitivity to strain of this type of devices: the dispersion turning point (DTP) and the cladding diameter reduction by an etching process. The results prove that sensitivities up to 20 pm/με can be attained, which is a ten-fold improvement ...
